چکیده
Abstract. The OMPS Limb Profiler (LP) instrument is designed to provide high-vertical-resolution ozone and aerosol profiles from measurements of the scattered solar radiation in 290–1000 nm spectral range. It collected its first Earth limb measurement on 10 January 2012 continues daily global cloud top up 60 40 km, respectively. relatively high vertical spatial sampling allow detection tracking sporadic events when particles are injected into stratosphere, such as volcanic eruptions or pyrocumulonimbus (PyroCb) events. In this paper we discuss newly released Version 2.0 multi-wavelength extinction coefficient retrieval algorithm. algorithm now produces at 510, 600, 674, 745, 869 997 wavelengths. LP data products compared SAGE III/ISS, OSIRIS CALIPSO missions shown be good quality suitable for scientific studies. comparison shows significant improvements performance Southern Hemisphere (SH) lower altitudes. These arise use longer wavelengths, contrast with V1.0 V1.5 algorithms, which used radiances only 675 therefore had limited sensitivity those regions. particular, coefficients most accurate, relative accuracies precisions close % 15 %, respectively, while accuracy precision order 20 %. 510 have SH recommended between 20–24 km Northern Hemisphere. V2.0 has been applied complete set measurements, new dataset publicly available.

Aerosol Properties from Omi Using the Multi-wavelength Algorithm
The multi-wavelength retrieval algorithm is used to retrieve aerosol parameters from spectra reflectance measurements of the Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI). This retrieval algorithm uses up to 19 wavelength bands between 331 nm and 500 nm including a band at 477 nm comprising an absorption band of O2-O2. This absorption band has been included in order to increase the amount of height informa...
متن کاملToward a combined SAGE II-HALOE aerosol climatology: an evaluation of HALOE version 19 stratospheric aerosol extinction coefficient observations
Herein, the Halogen Occultation Experiment (HALOE) aerosol extinction coefficient data is evaluated in the low aerosol loading period after 1996 as the first necessary step in a process that will eventually allow the production of a combined HALOE/SAGE II (Stratospheric Aerosol and Gas Experiment) aerosol climatology of derived aerosol products including surface area density. Based on these ana...
متن کاملThe GRAPE aerosol retrieval algorithm
The aerosol component of the Oxford-Rutherford Aerosol and Cloud (ORAC) combined cloud and aerosol retrieval scheme is described and the theoretical performance of the algorithm is analysed. ORAC is an optimal estimation retrieval scheme for deriving cloud and aerosol properties from measurements made by imaging satellite radiometers and, when applied to cloud free radiances, provides estimates...
متن کاملA new algorithm for detecting cloud height using OMPS/LP measurements
The Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite Limb Profiler (OMPS/LP) ozone product requires the determination of cloud height for each event to establish the lower boundary of the profile for the retrieval algorithm. We have created a revised cloud detection algorithm for LP measurements that uses the spectral dependence of the vertical gradient in radiance between two wavelengths in the visible and ne...
